Track Name: Dead Man's Ambition
Here's a song about Billy John and what he meant to me, how he came to waste his life, working for his family at least that's what he'd have had me believe.
See Billy does't love his wife and doesn't know his kids. Just counts his money 123, thinks you're all who I used to be and what he's got is all he'll ever be. He's got his sights set on victory can't you see that your ambition will leave you the dust of me.
Billy doesn't like the feel of the cool wind on his face. too busy with facts and figures, got to win the race, but he who laughs last always laughs alone.
His mistress now wants marrying and the tax man wants his cut and your yes men have disappeared and you're down on your luck. Suddenly Billy's trying to crawl home. but your babies have flown. Garden's all overgrown and it's a hard and it's an unforgiving throne. You've got your sights set on victory can't you see that your ambition will leave you the dust of me.
Track Name: 104 Nights
104 nights that I just don't remember, got me through 261 days. I spilt my guts and it just seemed to resemble, a mask in all manner of ways. If you can't tell it straight then don't tell it at all, it'll all come out wrong. All this shit in my head just falls out of my mouth like I've ripped off a million songs, it's like I've ripped off a million songs.
So what is heart when there's fear in your eyes and what is soul if it don't mean a thing? There's all these, dead men and women, walking around waiting for time. Last bell to ring. And if you can't tell it straight then don't bother to call me. It'll all come out wrong. And all this shit in my head just falls out of my mouth like I've ripped off a million songs, it's like I've ripped of a million songs.
All this doubt just reminds me that I'm still alive with all the questions still left to ask. But only fanatics have got all the answers and the gods just don't know how to laugh.
Track Name: Bibles Bottles and the Bomb
Got a late night feeling of recall. It was always you against the wall. With their bibles bottles and the bomb, your horizon was just a battle to be won, I hear them boom.
So I walk round every bar, find answers to the questions children ask when all of their, promises undone. Cause when it gets too safe you know sometimes the boring they will run and their steps go boom.
But you know that it's ok. No sins to wash away and there's no bibles no bottles and no bomb, that could ever convince me to thinking you had done me wrong.
Track Name: I Live in a Town
I live in a town. That's got no views to speak of, but one of my favourites, you could easily get to has just been built on. You can no longer see flats in Somerstown, the flaming sky behind them from the bridge. Or hear the trains as they go rumbling, take people out of Fratton into town.
But round our way, the world is flat, horizon inching closer to where we are sat and there is nothing we seem to be able to do about that.
And I live on an island and there's not much space to speak of. Argue with out of towners about our island status but I tell you that their wrong. Cause there are more young Mums round here, than cracks left in the pavement. Hear couples argue with each other and their children through the paper of the single layer walls.
But round our way, the world is flat, horizon inching closer to where we are sat and there is nothing we seem to be able to do about that.
Track Name: 4 am
4am, 4am. The thoughts that are running around in my head.
And lover, oh the songs I don't write. They don't mean a thing, don't mean I don't dream of you late at night. But I don't want to preach to the choir. Just one more sentimental liar.
And Sister, oh my Sister be well. Those cold little whispers, bear no mind the stories they tell.
And my Brother, working day after day at a job that you hate, don't you dare fade away. But I don't want to preach to the choir. Just one more sentimental liar.
Track Name: Pack Up Your Bags
One more night till we get out of here.
One more night till we're leaving town.
Pack up your bags and turn all the lights out,
leave these days they've been dragging you down.
Like the weight of the world that's been over your shoulder, bullshit targets drag you under.
Take my work pass I don't need it. Give my desk to somebody else.
I've made my decision take it or leave it.
Consequences? I'll see you in hell.
But I'm going. I'm leaving today. Jump into the void, it'll be ok.

And the voices say, what happens if you grow up one day?
This is not for you, that won't wash off. Child don't be such a fool.
This is not your life and people for around here
they don't get what they like.
Go join the back of the queue, that's the last I want to hear from you.
I'm going. I'm leaving today...

And I say.
Sold your soul for a bauble lately?
And I say have you planted a flag in the top of a pile of your opponents lately baby?
You're nothing for and nothing against, bang on the drum, but don't make any sense.
Still call people coloured and "don't trust the gays".
Hate in your mind and dirt in your play.
Go over and over the things I could do.
Maybe make a difference and get through to you, but you're in it to win it and slowly I see, you've take your place with the majority so I'm going. I'm leaving today.
